synergy is such a cliche and over-used business term. but i'm going to use it anyway. i found an odd business synergy on friday night when i went to rent a movie. i browsed the titles for a while before finding two dvds to rent. when i was at the counter paying, i noticed that there were shelves of tanning lotions and sunscreen bottles behind the cashier. why would that be for sale at a movie rental store? i turned around to see a sign that said, 'tanning beds' with an arrow. apparently, you can not only rent dvds here, but also get a tan while you're at it. what a strange combination. i mean, who wants to go tanning before watching a newly rented movie? i guess there's nothing like a tanning session to put you in the mood for a good movie?
